New episode alert!

We are excited to present a new episode of the Sustainable Lighting Design podcast, featuring Martina Frattura—a visionary lighting designer, researcher, and PhD student at the University of Bologna in Architecture and Design Cultures. This episode, titled “Experiencing Aesthetics: The Role of Beauty in Sustainable Design”, delves into the powerful impact of aesthetics on sustainable design.

Join us for an inspiring conversation with Martina Frattura as we explore the intersection of aesthetics and sustainability. In this episode, Martina shares her insights on the concepts of beauty and soft fascination, highlighting their crucial roles in creating sustainable spaces. We also discuss the importance of fostering a sense of belonging in architecture and modern office design. Additionally, Martina reveals findings from her research project, “A Beautiful Light,” which took her to ten different countries to explore how to reproduce the state of soft fascination in the built environment. Her insights offer a compelling look at how beauty can transform both spaces and emotions.

“Beauty plays a crucial role in sustainable design by enhancing our sense of well-being and connection to the spaces we inhabit.” Martina Frattura, Sustainable Design Podcast, Episode 11

Martina is also the founder of “The Beauty Movement,” a think tank dedicated to uncovering the fundamental principles and impact of aesthetics. She is also a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), Women in Lighting, and a Fellow at The Centre for Conscious Design.
